head coachHead Coach: Mike Bradby

Michael Bradby has amassed 44 wins for the Holy Family men’s soccer team since being named the head coach in 2005. In the past three seasons, the Tigers have advanced to the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Championship Tournament, including two trips to the championship game.

Last season, with a roster including 12 freshmen, Holy Family went 8-13-1 overall and was the sixth seed in the CACC with a 4-6-0 record. In the playoffs, the Tigers fought their way to their second consecutive championship game, falling to Post University.

Under Bradby’s tutelage in 2008, midfielder Matt Kocher earned Daktronics Division II All-America second team status and forward Tim Weglicki was the CACC rookie of the year.

As a player, he was a standout at Division I La Salle University. Bradby earned All-Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) honors all four years, including the MAAC rookie of the year award in 1986. Bradby left La Salle second on the all-time scoring list with 62 points. Currently, he is sixth on the list.

After graduation, Bradby went on to play professionally in the National Professional Soccer League from 1991 to 1993 with the Illinois Thunder and Denver Thunder.

In 1994, Bradby returned to Philadelphia to coach the boy’s soccer team at Archbishop Ryan for 11 seasons. He also served as a player-coach for the VE/Lighthouse over-30 club team. The team made three final fours (2000, 2001, 2003) and won the 2000 national championship.

Bradby was inducted to the Philadelphia Soccer Hall of Fame in 2007. He is also a member of the Archbishop Ryan High School Soccer Hall of Fame.

At Holy Family, Bradby is employed full-time as the fitness instructor in addition to being the head men’s soccer coach.

He was named Player of the Year one season. He was also a two-time regional All-American and finished as the leading goal scorer in school history setting the mark with 37 goals and 97 total points.

In 1997, he was inducted into the La Salle University Athletic Hall of Fame. After graduating from La Salle in 1992 with a degree in finance, he was drafted to play in the National Professional Soccer League.

This year, Montag was inducted in the Philadelphia Soccer and Archbishop Ryan High School Halls of Fame.
