Coach: Mike BradbySince becoming the head coach in 2005, Michael Bradby has transformed Holy Family men’s soccer program into a perennial contender in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC). In his first five seasons, he has racked up 55 wins and took the Tigers to four CACC Championship Tournaments, including trips to the final in 2007 and 2008. In 2009, Holy Family posted an overall record of 11-6-1. It was the team’s fourth season under Bradby in which the team won at least 10 games. The team qualified for the CACC Championship Tournament as a three seed, the highest seed for the Tigers since they were seeded second in the 2003 tournament. During the 2007 run to the CACC final, Holy Family recorded a 14-7-2 overall mark. The 14 wins are the most for a Tiger team under his tutelage. When he came to Holy Family, he inherited a three win team and quickly put together back-to-back 11 win seasons in 2005 and 2006. In the 2006 season, the Tigers made their first CACC Championship Tournament appearance since 2003. Bradby has helped 10 different players earn All-CACC honors, including Tim Weglicki who was the conference rookie of the year in 2008. Two players have landed on the Daktronics All-Region team, one going on to earn second team All-America (Matt Kocher). In 2007, Ed Szambelak was the first Tiger to earn National Soccer Coaches Association of America honors. Five Tigers has garnered CACC All-Academic honors. As a player, he was a standout at Division I La Salle University. Bradby earned All-Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) honors all four years, including the MAAC rookie of the year award in 1986. Bradby left La Salle second on the all-time scoring list with 62 points. Currently, he is sixth on the list. After graduation, Bradby went on to play professionally in the National Professional Soccer League (NPSL) from 1991 to 1993 with the Illinois Thunder and Denver Thunder. He was named to the NSPL All-Rookie Team in 1991. In 1994, Bradby returned to Philadelphia to coach the boy’s soccer team at Archbishop Ryan for 11 seasons. He also served as a player-coach for the VE/Lighthouse over-30 club team. The team made three final fours (2000, 2001, 2003) and won the 2000 national championship. Bradby was inducted to the Philadelphia Soccer Hall of Fame in 2007. He is also a member of the Archbishop Ryan High School Soccer Hall of Fame. At Holy Family, Bradby is employed full-time as the fitness instructor in addition to being the head men’s soccer coach. Assistant
coach: Georg MontagGeorg Montag is going into his fifth year as an assistant at Holy Family University, working along side his longtime friend and college teammate Michael Bradby. Montag had a stellar playing career as a four-year starter at nearby La Salle University, where he was a three-time All-Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) selection and a three-time All-Soccer Seven selection. He was named Player of the Year one season. He was also a two-time regional All-American and finished as the leading goal scorer in school history setting the mark with 37 goals and 97 total points. In 1997, he was inducted into the La Salle University Athletic Hall of Fame. After graduating from La Salle in 1992 with a degree in finance, he was drafted to play in the National Professional Soccer League. This year, Montag was inducted in the Philadelphia Soccer and Archbishop Ryan High School Halls of Fame. He has coached at Archbishop Ryan and with the Bensalem School District. Away from the field, he is an accountant and an information technologies manager in Newtown. He has finished his course-work for a Master’s Degree in Education from Holy Family. Hamill played for the Tigers from 2000 until 2003. In his senior campaign, Hamill led the NCAA in assists per game with 1.06. He led the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) in points per game with 2.22. Hamill was an All-CACC first team selection and finished second in the CACC Player of the Year voting. He finished the season with 11 goals, 18 assists and 40 points. The 18 assists is a single-season school record. Hamill is also an assistant cross country/track coach at Holy Family. Since 2004, Hamill served as an assistant soccer coach at St. Hubert’s High School. Hamill holds a bachelor’s degree in sport marketing management. He has also earned a master’s degree in elementary education from Holy Family. |
