American International Tops Bentley (3/13/2009)
Sophomore Laechia Conley scored a career-high 25 points to lead American International College to a 71-59 win over Bentley College in the first round of the NCAA Division II Women’s Basketball Tournament East Regional.

The Yellow Jackets (21-12) advance to play top-seeded Franklin Pierce University in the Regional Semifinals on Saturday night at 6 pm.

Bentley (21-12) was led by senior Kristy McLean, who scored a game-high 27 points.

American International took control of the contest late in the first half, finishing the stanza with a 10-3 run to take a six-point lead into intermission, 33-27.

The Yellow Jackets pushed the lead into double digits early in the second half and maintained a comfortable advantage throughout.

Junior Stacy Boisvert added 23 points and nine rebounds for American International, which shot 40.4 percent from the game. The Yellow Jackets held Bentley to 27.1 percent shooting from the field and outrebounded the Falcons 46-34.
