Carr Named to Daktronics Division II Women’s Basketball East Region First Team (3/11/2009) BROOKVILLE, N.Y. – Holy Family University forward Catherine Carr (so. Bernardsville, N.J./Bernards) was selected to the Daktronics Division II Women’s Basketball East Region first team by the region’s Division II sports information directors on Wednesday afternoon. Carr is currently averaging 15.1 points, a team-high, and 6.0 rebounds per game. She is also adding 64 assists, 28 steals and 15 blocks. In the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC), Carr is ranking eighth in scoring, 13th in assist-to-turnover ratio (1.05) and 15th in free throw percentage (.722). In her second season, Carr has already poured in 955 career points. Earlier this month, Carr was tabbed as the CACC player of the year and an All-CACC first team selection. Last year, Carr was the CACC and ECAC rookie of the year and a second team selection. Holy Family (25-5) is the second seed in the upcoming NCAA Division II Women’s Basketball East Region Tournament. It is the team’s sixth consecutive berth in the tournament, and the second straight year it’s being held at Holy Family. The Tigers will face Queens (N.Y.) in the opening round on Friday, March 13 at 8 p.m. at the Campus Center. Tickets are $8 for adults, $5 for senior citizens and $3 for students with valid ID. Children under two are free. |
