Holy Family University Outdoor Track Takes Part in Danny Curran Invitational (3/28/2009)
CHESTER, Pa. – The Holy Family University outdoor track teams participated in the Danny Curran Invitational, hosted by Widener University, on Saturday.

June Cain (so. Philadelphia, Pa./Martin L. King) led the women’s effort by claiming an eighth-place finish in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:00.49. She added a 17th place in the 200-meter dash after crossing the line in 26.87. Latifah Porter (fr. Philadelphia, Pa./Philadelphia High School for Girls) picked up an 11th place in the 200-meter dash by running the event in 26.49. She also ran a 1:02.08 to finish 16th in the 400-meter dash.

Mike Grubby (so. Mt. Airy, Md./Linganore) and Fred Tuwei (so. Nairobi, Kenya/Kaptel) recorded the best finishes for the men’s team. Grubby had a 16th place finish in the 400-meter dash with a time of 52.13. Tuwei completed the 5,000-meter run in 16:10.97 to end up in 18th.

Holy Family travels to Pomona, N.J. to compete in the Osprey Open, hosted by Richard Stockton College, on Saturday, April 4.
