Porter Leads Holy Family University Outdoor Track at Osprey Open (4/4/2009)
POMONA, N.J. – Latifah Porter (fr. Philadelphia, Pa./Philadephia High School for Girls) claimed her second win of the spring in the 400-meter dash to lead the Holy Family University outdoor track team at the very windy Osprey Open, host by Richard Stockton College on Saturday.

Porter defeated a field of 30 runners to earn the win, her third overall win of the season, by posting a time of 1:00.86. Teammate June Cain (so. Philadelphia, Pa./Martin L. King) finished right behind Porter in second place with a mark of 1:01.68. Porter added a seventh place finish in the 200-meter dash with a time of 27.12. Again, Cain was just of Porter’s pace with a 27.52 for an eighth place. Christina Cherry (sr. Cherry Hill, N.J./Holy Cross) brought home a ninth place in the 100-meter dash by crossing the line in 14.89.

Ashley Loughlin (so. Philadelphia, Pa./St. Hubert’s) added a fifth place in the high jump, posting a height of 1.40 meters.

On the men’s side, Jeff Kinkaid (fr. Philadelphia, Pa./Central) had a third place in the 1,500-meter run with a 4:27.85. John McFadden (jr. Bensalem, Pa./Father Judge) added a sixth in the event after running the distance in 4:30.34. Fred Tuwei (so. Nairobi, Kenya/Kaptel) completed the 5,000-meter run in 16:20.68 to end up in third.

The track team’s next event will be on Saturday, April 11 at the West Chester Invitational in West Chester, Pa.
