Difficult Schedule Awaits Holy Family University Men’s Basketball in 2009-2010 (7/2/2009) PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Head coach Alfred Johnson has put together one of the most difficult non-conference schedules for the Holy Family University men’s basketball team in 2009-2010. The 27-game schedule, released on Thursday, is made up of 17 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contests and 10 non-conference match-ups. The Tigers ten non-conference opponents boast a combined winning percentage of .690 (207-93). Seven of those teams won at least 21 games during the 2008-2009 season and reached the 2009 NCAA Championship Tournaments. Two of the seven teams reached their respective region finals. Holy Family opens its 2009-2010 campaign with five straight home contests. The Tigers will host St. Anselm in the season opener on November 15. Then, Holy Family plays three more non-conference games against Bentley (Nov. 21), Merrimack (Nov. 22) and Indiana (Pa.) (Nov. 29). All three teams made the NCAA Tournament with Bentley going to the East Region final. Holy Family closes out the home stand with its conference opener against Felician on December 5. The Tigers close out the 2009 part of their schedule with four consecutive home games. Holy Family will welcome American International (Dec. 13), Kutztown (Dec. 19), Assumption (Dec. 29) and Stonehill (Dec. 30) to the Campus Center during that stretch. Kutztown, Assumption and Stonehill all advanced to the post-season. Kutztown made the Atlantic Region final. A road contest at the University of the Sciences kicks off 2010 on January 5. The Tigers will visit the two-time defending CACC champion Philadelphia University on January 21. The team travels to Bronxville, N.Y. to face the newest member of the CACC, Concordia (N.Y.), on January 23. February begins with back-to-back road games at Chestnut Hill (Feb. 4) and Goldey-Beacom (Feb. 6). Then, Holy Family takes on Philadelphia (Feb. 11), Post (Feb. 13) and Wilmington (Del.) (Feb. 18). The regular season comes to a close with a home contest with the University of the Sciences on February 23.
