Lautenbach Tabbed as Holy Family University Women’s Lacrosse Head Coach (7/8/2009) PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Sarah Lautenbach has been selected to become the second-ever head coach of the Holy Family University women’s lacrosse team by director of athletics Sandra Michael on Wednesday. “Sarah is very enthusiastic and excited about moving our second year program into a competitive team within the [Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference],” said Michael. “She has the ability and the patience to lead, teach, and develop our team.“ Lautenbach comes to Holy Family after spending 2009 as the assistant girl’s lacrosse coach on Unionville High School, her alma mater where she was a three-sport athlete, in Kennett Square, Pa. The Indians reached the semi-finals of the PIAA Championships. It was the team’s first appearance in the tournament after finishing fifth in District I. The team also won the Ches-Mont League crown with a perfect 11-0 record (21-4 overall). In 2008, she was as assistant coach at Kennett High School in Kennett Square, Pa. Lautenbach was a starting midfielder for three seasons (2004-06) at Division I Old Dominion University. She recorded 10 goals, eight assists and 32 ground balls. As a freshman, Lautenbach was a midfielder at Sacred Heart University. She also played in 18 games for the Pioneers women’s ice hockey team. “Clearly, Sarah expressed her passion for lacrosse and is confident that she can improve the team individually and collectively,” said Michael. “It is my hope that the team will make great strides under Sarah's direction.” She graduated from Old Dominion in May of 2007 with a B.S. in criminal justice and a minor in sociology. |
