Holy Family University Women’s Soccer Plays to 3-3 Draw with Dominican (N.Y.) (9/12/2009)
HILLBURN, N.Y. – The Holy Family University women’s soccer team opened its Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) season by tying host Dominican (N.Y.) College, 3-3, at the Torne Valley Soccer Complex on Saturday afternoon.

Forwards Dawn Curry (so. Pennsville, N.J./Pennsville and Megan Tole (fr. Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan) and midfielder Ashley Antczak (sr. Westville, N.J./West Deptford) scored the goals for Holy Family (1-3-1, 0-0-1 CACC). Back Lindsay Fisher (so. Oakford, Pa./Archbishop Wood) and midfielder Kathryn Helkowski (fr. Levittown, Pa./Conwell-Egan) added assists.

For Dominican (1-1-2, 0-0-1 CACC), Niccole Sanchez scored a pair of goals, while Margaret Porter added one.

In net, the Tigers Michelle Giambrone (sr. Barrington, N.J./Seneca) stopped nine shots, while the Chargers Valentina Sturchio came through with five stops. Dominincan out-shot Holy Family, 20-15. The Tigers took 12 corner kicks, while the Chargers had nine.

Holy Family took a 1-0 at the 29:40 mark with Curry’s first goal of the year. Fisher assisted on the play. The advantage grew to 2-0 with Antczak scored after getting an assist from Helkowski at 56:15. It was Antczak’s first goal of the season. Tole put Holy Family ahead 3-0 by scoring on a penalty kick at the 62:59 mark for her second goal.

Dominican stormed back as Sanchez scored a pair of unassisted goals. Her first one came at the 63:39 mark. Sanchez made the score 3-2 at 66:05. The Chargers tied the game at three when Porter scored at 82:22 with an assist from Julia Camp.

In the overtimes, the Chargers took the only shot on goal.

Holy Family returns home to take on the University of Bridgep ort on Tuesday, September 15 at 4 p.m.
