Holy Family University Cross-Country Competes at Philly Metro Meet (9/26/2009)
PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The Holy Family University men’s and women’s cross country teams took part in the Philly Metro Meet on Saturday afternoon at the Belmont Plateau. The men’s team took seventh, while the women’s team came in 11th.

Fred Tuwei (jr. Nairobi, Kenya/Kaptel) was the top finisher for the Holy Family men with a time of 27:03.80. He was third overall. Jeff Kinkaid (so. Philadelphia, Pa./Central) finished in 21st position after completing the eight-kilometer course in 28:51.78. Carlos Mejia (fr. Philadelphia, Pa./Franklin Towne Charter) finished the race in 31:39.80 to be in 62nd. John McFadden (sr. Bensalem, Pa./Father Judge) posted a time of 32:19.62 to cross the finish line in 68th. Pat Montieth (fr. Philadelphia, Pa./La Salle) recorded an 82nd place finish by running the event in 33:15.64. Brian Davis (fr. Harrisburg, Pa./Harrisburg) was the 95th finisher of the afternoon with a mark of 35:23.40. Tyree Morgan (so. Philadelphia, Pa./North East) ran a 37:54.72 to finish in the 108th spot.

Molly Finnegan (fr. Merchantville, N.J./Camden Catholic) was the top finisher on the women’s side for Holy Family with a 30th place and a time of 21:50.25. Jennifer Schrank (so. Cherry Hill, N.J./Cherry Hill E.) ran the five-kilometer course in 22:47.05 to finish in 56th. Jen Andrews (gr. Frederick, Md./Frederick) posted a time of 23:01.88 and ended the day in 60th. Latifah Porter (so. Phialdelphia, Pa./Philadelphia High School for Girls) was the event’s 73rd place finisher with a time of 23:30.00. Christina Cantatore (sr. Galloway, N.J./Absegami) came in the 93rd spot after posting a 24:05.59. June Cain (jr. Philadelphia, Pa./Martin L. King), Chelsea Pierson (fr. Pittsgrove, N.J./Sacred Heart) and Hanna Debela (Ethopia/Cono) finished in 96th, 98th and 99th, respectively. Cain had a time of 24:18.06. Pierson ran a 24:22.67, while Debela completed the course in 24:25.75.

Holy Family will compete in the Belmont Classic at the Belmont Plateau on Saturday, October 3 at noon.
