Holy Family University Women’s Tennis Keeps Winning Streak Alive; Earns 7-2 Win Over Philadelphia (10/6/2009)
PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The Holy Family University women’s tennis team’s winning streak is now at six after a 7-2 victory over host Philadelphia University in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference match on Tuesday.

Holy Family is now 8-2 overall and 6-1 in CACC play. Philadelphia goes to 8-5 overall and 4-4 in the conference.

The Tigers claimed points in two of the three doubles matches. Juliana Victoria-Caldas (fr. Guayaquil, Ecuador/Unidad Educativa Nuevo Mundo) and Jin Querubin (fr. Mississauga, Ontario/St. Joseph Secondary) defeated Daniela Rodriguez and Brittany Villa in the No. 1 match, 8-4. The team is now 8-1 in dual matches. Liana Lui (gr. Medford, N.J./Shawnee) and Melanie Pulsinelli (sr. Levittown, Pa./Neshaminy) won their fifth match of the year, 8-2 over Stephanie Miller and Laura Beaver in the No. 2 match.

In singles, Holy Family won five of the six matches. Querubin took the No. 2 match, 6-3, 6-3, against Christina Brzozowski. She is 8-2 in dual matches. Pulsinelli was a 6-3, 6-1 winner against Villa in the No. 3 match. Lui earned her seventh win after defeating Miller, 6-4, 6-3, in the No.4 match. In the No. 5 match, Linda Piecyk (jr. Philadelphia, Pa./St. Hubert's) was a straight-set winner, 6-4, 6-3, against Sarah Harris to earn win number seven. Chelsea Brown (fr. Philadelphia, Pa./Nazareth) defeated Beaver in the No. 6 match, 6-0, 6-3.

Holy Family will complete a suspended match at Goldey-Beacom on Wednesday, October 7 at 5 p.m. The match is tied at 3-3.
