Holy Family University Women’s Tennis End Fall Regular Season With 8-1 Win Over Post University (10/8/2009)
WATERBURY, Conn. – The Holy Family University women’s tennis team concluded its fall regular season by defeating host Post University, 8-1, in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) match on Thursday.

The Tigers wrapped up the regular season with an overall record of 9-3 and a 6-2 CACC record. Holy Family will be the third seed in the upcoming CACC Championship Tournament and travel to Goldey-Beacom on Tuesday, October 13.

Post is 1-8 overall and 0-6 in conference play.

Holy Family got the match started by sweeping the doubles matches. Juliana Victoria-Caldas (fr. Guayaquil, Ecuador/Unidad Educativa Nuevo Mundo) and Jin Querubin (fr. Mississauga, Ontario/St. Joseph Secondary) won the No. 1 match, 8-0, against Ashley Gorelik and Diana Hayden. Liana Lui (gr., Medford, N.J./ Shawnee) and Linda Piecyk (jr. Philadelphia, Pa./St. Hubert's) defeated Leah McQueeney and Kelsey Lengyel-Jocovich in the No. 2 match, 8-0. Nicole Dogas (so. Philadelphia, Pa./St. Hubert's) and Amanda Tole (fr. Cinnaminson, N.J./Cinnaminson) were victorious by an 8-5 score over Helena Bartolomeo and Pam Ifill.

On the singles side, Victoria-Caldas defeated Gorelik in the No. 1 match, 6-1, 6-1. Querubin got past Hayden in the No. 2 match, 6-0, 6-1. Lui was a 6-0, 6-2 winner over McQueeney in the No. 3 match. In the No. 4 match, Piecyk knocked off Lengyel-Jocovich, 6-3, 6-1. Dogas won the final point by defeating Bartolomeo in the No. 5 match, 6-0, 6-0.
