Holy Family University Men’s Soccer’s Season Ends After 2-0 Loss to Post University (11/2/2009)
PLYMOUTH MEETING, Pa. – Forward Maurice Johnson scored both goals as Post University defeated the Holy Family University men’s soccer team, 2-0, in the opening round of the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Championship Tournament on Monday afternoon at Plymouth-Whitemarsh High School.

Holy Family’s season comes to a close with the loss. The Tigers posted a record of 11-6-1 overall. It was Holy Family’s fourth 10-plus win season under head coach Mike Bradby. The team went 6-3-1 in the CACC and earned its fourth consecutive CACC Championship Tournament appearance.

Post is now 8-8-2 overall and advances to CACC Championship Tournament semifinals on Wednesday, November 4 against Nyack at Wilmington University.

Johnson got the Eagles on the board at 8:26 by bending a shot from 25 yards away into the near corner. The goal was assisted. He struck again with an insurance goal in the second half by scoring on a corner kick that was taken by midfielder Johan Pineda at 76:21.

In goal, Errol Reid stopped both shots on goal to earn the shutout. Holy Family’s Mark Ferretti (so. Voorhees, N.J./Paul VI) did all he could by making seven saves. He was pulled for an extra field player with 4:32 remaining. Back Dodji Freitas (fr. Togo/Samuel S. Fels) assumed the keeper role and made a save.

The Eagles outshot the Tigers, 27-10.
