Holy Family University Women’s Volleyball Ends Regular Season with Tri-Match Split (11/7/2009)
RUTHERFORD, N.J. – The Holy Family University women’s volleyball team concluded its regular season by splitting a pair of matches on Saturday afternoon. The Tigers defeated host Felician in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) match, 3-0 (25-21, 25-18, 25-18), and fell to Southern Connecticut (20-25, 15-25, 15-25).

Holy Family is now 14-21 overall and 11-8 in the CACC. By defeating Felician, Holy Family secured a spot in third CACC Championship Tournament. The Tigers will travel to Philadelphia University for a CACC quarterfinal match on Tuesday, November 10 at 7 p.m.

Against Felician, outside hitter Jill Keeve (so. La Grange, Ill./Lyons Twp.) recorded a match-high 10 kills and nine digs. Outside hitters Kelsey Ross (so. Flagstaff, Ariz/Sinagua) and Katie Hornback (so. Indianapolis, Ind./Heritage Christian) had eight and seven kills, respectively. Middle blocker Beckie Tett (so. Leesburg, Va./Notre Dame Academy) contributed six kills. Setter Aimee Drabyn (jr. Avon, Ind./Avon) added 31 assists and six digs. Libero Jordan Beland (so. Shrewsbury, Pa./Susquehannock) paced the defense with 15 digs.

Hornback was the offensive leader in the loss to Southern Connecticut with 11 kills. Ross had seven kills and five digs. Drabyn recorded 25 assists and eight digs. Defensive specialist Mackenzie Bickes (fr. Orchard Park, Mich./Mercy) tied her career-best 16 digs.
