Holy Family University Men’s Basketball Falls in Exhibition to La Salle, 94-59 (11/7/2009) PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The Holy Family University men’s basketball team opened its exhibition schedule with a 94-59 loss to Division I La Salle University on Saturday afternoon at Tom Gola Arena. Holy Family received a game-high 22 points on 8 of 17 shooting from guard Khiry Hankins (fr. Cincinnati, Ohio/Summit Country). Forward Justin Swidowski (so. Cinnaminson, N.J./Holy Cross) added 20 points, by shooting 9 of 16 from the field, to go with six rebounds. Point guard Kahlil Mumford (so. Philadelphia, Pa./Cardinal Dougherty) contributed nine points and a team-high six assists. Guard Rodney Green led five Explorers in double figures with 14 points along with six rebounds and six assists. Center Aaric Murray contributed 13 points, eight rebounds, four blocks, three assists and two steals. Guard Ruben Guillandeaux came off-the-bench to add 13 points and six assists. Forward Jerrell Williams had 11 points, six rebounds and four assists. Forward Devon White added 10 points and seven rebounds in a reserve role. The Explorers connected on 52.3 percent (34 of 65) of their shots, while the Tigers shot 29.6 percent (21 of 71). La Salle outrebounded Holy Family, 51-33. La Salle opened the game outscoring Holy Family 19-2 in the opening 8:11. Leading 22-6, the Explorers went on an 18-4 run to move in front 40-10 with 2:16 left in the half. The Explorers led at the break, 44-17. In the second half, La Salle went on a 28-3 run to lead by a game-high 52 points, 72-20. The Tigers ended the game with a 15-3 run to produce the final margin. Holy Family travels to Binghamton University for its second exhibition contest on Tuesday, November 10 at 7 p.m. |
