Men's Soccer beats Goldey-Beacom 2-0 in rainstorm (10/13/2005)
PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Holy Family’s Ed Szambelak (So./Philadelphia, PA/Northeast Catholic) scored two goals in the second half to break open a scoreless tie as Holy Family (9-4-1, 2-3-1 CACC) defeated Goldey-Beacom (1-10-1, 1-3 CACC) 2-0 Thursday afternoon in a driving rainstorm.

With the win, Holy Family moves closer to the sixth and final playoff spot in the conference, with just two conference games remaining.

Szambelak scored his first goal of the game, and of the season, 49 minutes in when he received a pass from Jim Latronica (So./Levittown, PA/Conwell Egan) for the 1-0 lead. His second goal came at 62:35 when he scored unassisted past Lightning goalkeeper Chris DiNuzzo.

The win allowed Chris Augustine (Sr./Willow Grove, PA/Archbishop Ryan) to pick up his third win of the season by making just three saves. DiNuzzo made four saves in the losing effort.

Holy Family travels to Felician on Saturday, then to Post Monday for its final two conference games of the season.
