The loss by the Tigers, snaps their 28-game winning streak and now the Tigers must hope for an at-large bid to the NCAA Division II tournament. The Tigers were ranked as high as fifth in the region in the last poll, and will learn their fate Sunday night during the selection show. The Devils led wire-to-wire in the contest, the first team to lead an entire game against Holy Family this season. Rashanna Edwards and Leah Shumoski each had 11 points for USP, while Allison Weiss added ten. For Holy Family, the 25th ranked team in the latest USA Today/ESPN Coaches’ Poll, the Tigers got 16 points off the bench from guard Melissa Brooks (Fr./Levittown, PA/Neshaminy) while Megan Bauer (Jr./Norwood, PA/Ridley) added 13. Holy Family then charged back to within in one, at 11-10 on a pair of foul shots by Bauer with 14:06 left. That would be the closest the Tigers would get in the first half. USP then outscored Holy Family 13-3 over the next 5:37 to take a 27-13 lead. The Devils would go up by as much as 16 points (34-18) before Holy Family rallied to within seven at 38-31 at the half.
