Volleyball takes rubber match from Bowie State, 3-0 (10/21/2006)
PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Holy Family’s Jen O’Connor (So./Wilmington, DE/St. Elizabeth) had a match-high 23 kills as the Tigers (11-19) defeated Bowie State (7-16) for the second time this season by a 3-0 score.

Game scores were 30-22, 32-30 and 30-16.

Emily Culp (Gr./Bensalem, PA/Nazareth Academy) had 15 kills for Holy Family, who also picked up a forfeit win Saturday from Felician. With the forfeit win, Holy Family improves to 7-9 in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference and stays alive for the sixth and final playoff spot.

Shannon Whalen (Fr./Philadelphia, PA/John W. Hallahan) had 32 assists, with Michelle Copelli (Jr./Fort Washington, PA/Upper Dublin) added in 12.

Defensively, Kelly Cummins (So./Philadelphia, PA/John W. Hallahan) had 21 digs, while O’Connor added in 18.

For Bowie State, Alycia Williams-Chase had a team-high eight kills. Jasmine McNair had 25 assists, while Tiffany Toney had 16 digs.

Holy Family will travel to Southern Connecticut State on Wednesday evening for a 7:00 p.m. match.
