Four Holy Family University Players Make the All-CACC Volleyball Team; Kilian Named Co-Coach of the Year (11/5/2007) New Haven, CT – The Holy Family University women’s volleyball team had four players selected to the All-Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) team on Monday. Head Coach Sue Kilian was tabbed as the Co-Coach of the Year. Outside hitters Lauren Gosnell (fr. Tipton, IN/Tipton) and Jen O’Connor (jr. Wilmington, DE/St. Elizabeth) and libero Maria Scherrer (fr. Hebron, KY/St. Henry) were all first team selections. Setter Aimee Drabyn (fr. Avon, IN/Avon) was named to the second team. Gosnell is the team leader in kills with 485. She is third on the team with 41 blocks and 39 service aces. Nationally, she is 66th in kills per game (3.94). Last season, O’Connor was named to the second team. This season, she ranks second on the team in kills (456) and digs (426), fourth in blocks (28) and fifth in service aces (26). Scherrer has a team-best 792 digs this season. She is second on the Tigers with 61 service aces. Nationally, she is seventh with 6.67 digs per game. Drabyn is the team and CACC leader with 1,178 assists. She is tops on the squad with 74 service aces. Drabyn is 29th in the country with 0.66 service aces per game. Kilian is in her second season as the head coach of the Holy Family University women’s volleyball team. This season, the Tigers have a 14-4 CACC record and qualified for the CACC Championship Tournament. Holy Family improved by seven wins over last year (7-9 CACC), the largest turnaround in the conference. Holy Family (16-20 overall) will visit Philadelphia University in the opening round of the CACC Championship Tournament on Tuesday, November 6 at 7 p.m. The Rams lead the season series against the Tigers, 2-1. |
