Holy Family University Women's Basketball Selected as Host Team for NCAA Northeast Region Championship Tournament; To Face Molloy in Opening Round (3/9/2008) Philadelphia, PA – The Holy Family University women's basketball team will be the top seed and host the NCAA Division II Northeast Regional Tournament, announced by the NCAA on Sunday night. The Tigers will face Molloy College in the opening round of the tournament take will take place on Friday, March 14 at the Campus Center. Holy Family, led by 13th year head coach Mike McLaughlin, enters the tournament with a perfect 30-0 record. The Tigers are one of three teams to be undefeated. On Saturday, Holy Family won the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) championship for the third time in four years to claim an automatic berth into the tournament. It is the fifth consecutive season that the Tigers have reached the NCAA Tournament. Last season, Holy Family reached the second round before falling to eventual national champion Southern Connecticut. Holy Family is led by the two-time CACC player of the year guard Kelly Killion (sr. Pennsauken, NJ/Camden Catholic) and the CACC rookie of the year and the MVP of the CACC Championship Tournament forward Catherine Carr (fr. Bernardsville, NJ/Bernards). Killion is averaging 12.1 points per game (ppg) to go with 142 assists and 25 steals. Carr is leading the team in scoring with 15.5 ppg. Molloy (19-11) is in the tournament for the first time after winning the East Coast Conference (ECC) earlier in the day and will be the eighth seed. The Lions are getting 17.0 ppg and 10.6 rebounds per game from the forward Kymira Woodberry, the ECC player of the year. The winner of this game will advance to the semifinals on Saturday, March 15. The Northeast Region final will be held on Monday, March 17 at 7 p.m. The region championship will go on to play in the Elite Eight that will be held in Kearney, Nerbraska from March 26 through March 29.
