Holy Family University Track and Field Competes at West Chester University Invitational (4/12/2008) West Chester, Pa. – The Holy Family University men’s and women’s outdoor track and field teams took part at the West Chester University Invitational on Saturday afternoon. Mike Hurley (fr. Darby, Pa./Penn Wood) led the men’s team with a second place finish in the 800-meter dash by posting a time of 1:57.24. Mike Grubby (fr. Mt. Airy, Md./Linganore)and Larry Berner (jr. Philadelphia, Pa./Father Judge) crossed the line in ninth and 27th place, respectively, in the same event with times of 2:04.01 and 2:15.15. Wayne Hefner (sr. Philadelphia, Pa./Father Judge) had the Tigers top finish in the 1,500-meter run with a 4:29.86 for an 18th place finish. John McFadden (so. Bensalem, Pa./Father Judge) was five spots back in 23rd with a mark of 4:37.80. Dennis Ondrejka (sr. Philadelphia, Pa./Northeast Catholic) was 28th in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.54. The men’s 4x400-meter relay team recorded a fifth place finish with a time of 3:36.40. On the women’s side, June Cain (fr. Philadelphia, Pa./Martin L. King) and Christina Cantatore (jr. Galloway, N.J./Absegami) each posted a top-ten finish in the 400-meter dash. Cain was eighth with a 1:05.83, while Cantatore finished 10th with a 1:12.26. Cain also brought home an 18th place finish in the 200-meter dash by running the event in 28.47. Holy Family’s next meet is the Widener Invitational on Friday, April 18 and Saturday, April 19 in Chester, Pa. |
