Four Holy Family University Softball Players Named to CACC All-Academic Spring Team (6/19/2008) New Haven, Conn. – Softball players Kim Hockenbrock, Sarah Marsteller, Jody Searfoss and Dana Pallotta represented Holy Family University on the 2008 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) All-Academic Spring Team. In order to be named to the CACC All-Academic team, recipients must have participated in a spring CACC-sponsored championship sport, be at least a sophomore academically and athletically, have been a student at their current school for at least two semesters, and achieve a cumulative grade-point-average (GPA) of 3.50 or higher through the preceding semester. Hockenbrock (sr. Eagleville, Pa./Methacton) is a three-year member of the All-Academic team. The catcher/first baseman is finance major with a GPA of 3.84. She hit .224 with five runs batted in (RBIs) in 33 games. Marsteller (jr. Rising Sun, Md./Rising Sun) is on the team for the second consecutive year. Marsteller, a communications major, has a GPA of 3.71. This season, she played 43 games at second base and recorded a .259 batting average with a team-high 29 runs scored and 15 RBIs. She also stole a team-best 14 bases. Searfoss (so. Weatherly, Pa./Marian Catholic), a psychology major with a 3.65 GPA is on the team for the first time. She went 12-9 with an earned run average of 1.51. She fanned 154 batters in 134.2 innings pitched. Searfoss threw her first career no-hitter against Felician on March 31. She also had a 34.1 inning scoreless streak during the season. At the plate, she was a .286 hitter with one home run and eight RBIs. Pallotta (sr. Levittown, Pa./Conwell-Egan) is a humanities major and has a 3.57 GPA. She played in 40 games at catcher and first base. She hit .286 and had team highs in home runs (four), RBIs (26) and slugging percentage (.500). Holy Family went 22-22 and 16-8 in CACC play. The Tigers finished third in the CACC Championship Tournament. |
