head coachHEAD COACH: Brett Shavitz
Brett Shavitz is in his third season as the head coach of the Holy Family University women’s tennis team. Before becoming the head coach, he was an assistant for the Tigers for the first three years. Shavitz brings over 20 years of tennis experience as a player and a coach to the program.

In his two seasons at the helm, Shavitz has an overall record of 26-14. Last season, Holy Family went 11-8 overall and went to the championship match of the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Championship Tournament. In 2007-08, he coached the Tigers to a 15-6 overall record and their second consecutive CACC title. He was tabbed at the CACC Coach of the Year.

From 1998 to 2001, Shavitz was the number one flight singles player at Marywood University in Scranton, Pa. At Marywood, Shavitz was a two-time runner-up in the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (PAC) tournament. In 1998, he helped lead the Pacers to a 10-9 overall record and the PAC team championship.

At 14, Shavitz was ranked in the top-five in the Philadelphia area.

Shavitz has a bachelor’s degree from Marywood University in social sciences and a master’s degree from Holy Family in education.

He is also a history teacher at Edison High School in Philadelphia.
