Home Is Not So Sweet

Holy Family was looking to get back on track,
following a tough loss to Caldwell College in their home opener.
The loss snapped the Tiger's modest two game winning streak.
Holy Family battled the Devils of the University of Sciences
in a contest that featured 14 lead changes. The Tigers shot
a respectable 44.8 percent (30/67) from the field, but continued
to struggle from beyond the arc (19.2 percent - 5/26). What
hurt Holy Family the most was their inability to box out as
the Devils out rebounded the Tigers 47-35. That resulted in
more second chance points (16-8) for the University of Sciences,
which were critical in the Tiger's 77-73 loss. Holy Family
has lost the last two games by a combined 9 points. Junior
Bob Presner played a great game as he led the Tigers with
a double-double (28 points, 11 rebounds) and 2 blocked shots.
Senior Mike Wild played outstandingly as he chipped in 27
points (10/22) and dished out 5 assists. Sophomore Chris Kozole
displayed a knack for finding seams through the defense, by
distributing a team high 9 assists and supplementing that
with 8 rebounds and 2 steals. Sophomore Dan Welch provided
8 points, 5 rebounds, 2 blocked shots, and 1 steal in spot
duty. Luck was nowhere to be found for sophomore Ryan Haigh;
he struggled mightily from the three-point line, going 0-8
and 1-12 overall. For Holy Family, home has been as welcome
as a paper cut, so far this season. The loss drops the Tiger's
record to 3-4 but, hopefully, Holy Family will return to their
winning ways.
