Lady Tigers Sweep Double-header versus USP

-By Ryan White, 04/22/2004

On a very clear Tuesday afternoon, our Holy Family University Tigers took on the University of Sciences in Philadelphia in a softball double-header. The team played hard and worked together, and as a result USP couldn't contain the Tiger's bats, as we went on to win game one by a score of 9-1.

The Tigers improved their record to 16-16 and got back to .500 for the season. The first game of a double-header is always the most important because it can easily set the tone for the second game.

Game two was intense from the very beginning. Racheal Mudry took the mound and pitched brilliantly going five scoreless innings. Jeanette Rinker stepped into the game in relief, and picked up where Mudry left off. The game remained scoreless through seven. In the eighth, Emily Kerner hit a dramatic, game winning 2-run homerun to seal the victory for Holy Family.

The win pushed the Tigers over the .500 hump for the season. The Tigers swept the double-header and can now look ahead to their next game, which is at home today at 3:00 p.m. against Lock Haven University.
