02/25/2004
Senior
guard Kate Baun (Southampton, PA) scored 6 points to reach
1,000 for her career in the Lady Tigers 67-53 victory over
the Lady Lions of Georgian Court College at the Campus Center
in Northeast Philadelphia on Tuesday February 24th. Baun,
a 5'6 point guard scored her historic point on a typical Kate
Baun play, a left handed driving lay-up with 2:25 remaining
in the contest. Kate also became Holy Family Women's Basketball
all-time assist leader this season with her 554th helper in
a victory over GoldeyBeacom College on January 22nd.
Baun, who is a nursing major with a 3.85 grade-point average, has been a starter for her entire four-year career at Holy Family and has become, in the words of head coach Mike McLaughlin "the finest back court player I has ever coached in my 11-year career". McLaughlin added; "Kate is the ultimate team player. Individual accolades are not her style, but they come with hard work, sacrifice and doing things the right way, we are proud and fortunate to have Kate as part of the Women's basketball program."
Baun's teams have compiled 116 wins to only 11 losses in her four-year career, which equates to a winning percentage of 91%.
