Theresa Cirino scores 4 goals
as Holy Family cruises
-By Brian Morlock, 10/10/2003
The Holy Family women's soccer team are starting to look like a dominating force on the field. They play as a team and pass the ball unselfishly. They play suffocating defense, especially the past 3 games where they have not allowed a single goal to their opponents. Offensively, it seems like this team is always putting pressure on the other teams net. These girls are playing like a team that is determined to win a championship.
There are many stars in Wednesdays 6-0 victory over Nyack. If there was to be a star of the game, Theresa Cirino would deserve that honor. She scored 4 of the 6 goals in the game. Senior Maria Karasavas said, "She played great. She plays the game as hard as anyone." The scary part to all the other teams that have to play Holy Family is Theresa's only a freshmen. Look for this girl to continue to do great things for the Lady Tigers.
There were other girls who had great games for the Lady Tigers. Freshmen Melissa Gamble and senior Maria Karasavas each scored a goal in the game. Maria also added an assist. When asked about the way the team played, Karasavas said, "We put on a dominating performance. The passes were crisp and we accomplished another victory." With this win, the Lady Tigers improve their record to 8-3-2.
The season is starting to wind down and every game will be important. If the Lady Tigers play the way they been playing, they are going to be tough to beat. The team feeds off of each other and they seem to have team unity. All these ingredients could add up to a championship run for the Lady Tigers. Only the future will tell.
