History--"Lady Tigers"

The Lady Tigers of Holy Family have continued their reputation as a nationally recognized and respected team during the nine -year tenure of Head Coach Mike McLaughlin. The Lady Tigers have compiled a record of 266 wins and 42 losses during that span for a winning percentage of 86% and have also competed in nine consecutive trips to the National Tournament. This year’s team will look to continue that success heading into the 2004-05 campaign.

The latest version of the Lady Tigers includes senior forward Ashley Dunek (Lenape, NJ) and guard Jamie Battinierri (Eddystone, PA) who were both named to the CACC All-Conference team in 2003-2004. Dunek and Battinierri averaged close to 12 points and five rebounds per game respectively last season. Junior guard Jen Andrews (Frederick, MD) is expected to have her best season to date as she takes over a leadership role as an upper classmen. The sophomore class consists of center Megan Bauer (Ridley, PA) who averaged seven points and six rebounds per game in her freshman campaign, forward Lindsay Sock (Hatfeild, PA) who had an excellent summer and is competing for minutes at the post position and Kim Killion (Pennsauken, NJ) is a transfer guard who is entering her 1st season as a Lady Tiger. The freshman class is an extremely energetic and talented group that will be expected to immediately contribute to the success of this season. Kelly Killion (Pennsauken, NJ) is a dynamic point guard from Camden Catholic and is expected to lead the Lady Tiger’s into their future. Chrissy Kosiek (Philadelphia, PA) is a hard working and versatile player who will add toughness and determination to the line-up. Atiya Newton (Hampton, VA) is a phenomenal athlete who will bring a new dimension to Holy Family with her explosive leaping ability and speed. Alandra Dickerson (Rancocas, NJ) is a strong guard who will bring defensive tenacity and transition play to the floor. The Lady Tigers have added two international players to this year’s squad. Freshmen guard Hany Lynn (Holan, Israel) will add experience and depth to the guard position. Center Ruth Cass (Liverpool, England) is a talented post player who brings a scoring touch to the post for the Tiger’s. Jamie McCallister (Philadelphia, PA) has joined the team as a walk on for the 2004-2005 season. Jamie is an excellent three point shooter and a tireless worker.

The Lady Tigers will again be looking to capture a CACC title and advance to the NCAA tournament again this season. The schedule will not be kind to the Lady Tigers as they continue to compete against the top teams in the region. Coach Mike McLaughlin comments on the 2004-2005 Tigers, “I am extremely enthused and excited about this group of players. They are hard working, they are tough and they are going to be a pleasure to coach and also a pleasure to watch compete. I believe that this group is prepared to keep the tradition of Holy Family University’s Women’s basketball alive and well! “

The Lady Tigers open the season when they travel to West Chester University on November 16th.
