Education Professor Publishes Text; Featured on National Web Site
Professor of Education Helen Hoffner, EdD, recently published a new textbook, Literacy Lessons K-8: Connecting Activities to Standards and Students to Communities (Corwin Press, 2010).
In this book, Dr. Hoffner shows teachers how to engage students by connecting literacy lessons with students’ lives and their community. She offers classroom-ready activities and lesson plans to help teachers advance student achievement in reading, writing, speaking, listening, and viewing.
Lessons K-8: Connecting Activities to Standards and Students to Communities is Dr. Hoffner’s fifth published textbook for teachers and her sixth book overall. She also has published 11 lesson plans on the teacher resource Web site www.readwritethink.org.
The National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE) plans to highlight Dr. Hoffner as a featured educator on its Web site www.ncte.org. The NCTE is a professional association for English, language arts, and literacy teachers from all educational levels.
