Holy Family Contributes to Toys for Tots
University students, faculty, and staff collected 275 toys and raised $330 for the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program.
Each year this national program collects new, unwrapped toys throughout the nation in October, November, and December and distributes them to needy children in local communities.
This is the fourth year the University has contributed to the Toys for Tots Program.
Students from the Education Connections club and the Freshman Experience class participated in fundraisers and toy drive promotional events throughout fall semester.
In addition, several Education Connections students recently volunteered in a local warehouse to sort and pack donated toys for the Marine Corps.
Marissa Iannarelli, a senior majoring in elementary and early childhood education, coordinated the University toy drive this year.
“I am so happy that we had such a successful season helping the Marines and I hope that the tradition continues for years to come,” Iannarelli said.
Iannarelli thanked Associate Professor of Education Patricia Duncan, Ed.D., Special Services Director Linda DiGennaro, and sophomore psychology major Krista Zerkow for their support in this year’s effort.
