Art Gallery Features "Food" Exhibit (11/5/2012)
The Holy Family University Art Gallery will feature the paintings and prints of artist Lauren Schiler from November 2–28 in an exhibit entitled “Food: Memories, Associations and Rituals.”

The imagery in Schiller’s prints and paintings is drawn from food-related memories, associations and rituals. Depictions of food are cross-referenced with people, places and events. Themes include food and morality and food and identity. A number of Schiller’s traditional and photo intaglio prints are also included in the exhibition.

Schiller is currently an Associate Professor of Art at Seton Hall University, where she teaches painting, drawing, and printmaking. She has exhibited her work in exhibitions at the Noyes Museum of Art in Oceanville, NJ; Artspace in Raleigh, NC; and the Garrison Art Center in Garrison, NY. Her paintings have been included in group shows at the Adam Baumgold, the Allan Stone, and the Bowery galleries in New York City.

An opening reception will take place on Tuesday, November 13, from 7–9 pm. The University Art Gallery is located on the Lower Level of the Education & Technology Center on the University’s Northeast Philadelphia campus. The exhibit is free and open to the public.
