Bring Your Own Books!
The Center for Academic Enhancement are organizing focus groups to help students prepare for the LSAT and MCAT exams. They will be reviewing material, studying and evaluating question types and testing methods, as well taking sample exams. Each group will begin their meetings on Thursday, November 12, 2009. Please be sure to bring any related books and study materials to the meetings. The LSAT group will meet on Thursdays and Fridays, from 12:30-1:30, and the MCAT group will meet on Thursdays from 8:30-9:30. Once the groups are formed we can adjust the schedules to try to accommodate as many people as possible!
If anyone is interested in joining the LSAT study group please contact Brittany LaCouture at blacouture@holyfamily.edu. Anyone interested in joining the MCAT study group please contact Piotr Kopinski at pkopinski@holyfamily.edu.
Good Luck!

A visit to the CAE may be particularly relevant now because midterms are looming ahead!

May & December – the months most seniors live for. The end of one life and the start of another.
Undergraduate and graduate degree candidates will be able to complete the entire register process online for the very first time for those graduating in 2010. Those eligible to participate include students who have completed all degree requirements during Summer 2009, by December 2009 or by May 2010, according to Dr. Sylvester Kohut, Jr., associate vice president for academic affairs.
In mid-February, all those eligible to receive degrees at the Tuesday, May 18, 2010, ceremonies will receive a letter and fact sheet from Sister Maureen McGarrity, PhD, CSFN, vice president for academic affairs. The graduate degree ceremony will take place at 9:30 a.m. and the baccalaureate ceremony at 12:30 p.m. Students will also be able to order their academic attire online. The information provided by Sister Maureen will explain the online registration process and provide the URL for Holy Family's commencement website.
Commencement ceremonies will be conducted at the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts in Philadelphia. It is anticipated that a total of over 5,000 guests will view the two ceremonies. The ceremonies will also be available for viewing world-wide via a live broadcast on Holy Family's website homepage. The 50th Anniversary Class of Holy Family, the Class of 1960, will be honored at the afternoon commencement.
In addition to the two commencements on May 18, a Commencement Mass of Thanksgiving, following by a reception, will be held on Sunday afternoon, May 16, in the Campus Center on the Northeast Philadelphia campus starting at 2 p.m. All graduates and their families and friends are invited to this special event.

As always, tutors look forward to working with you ---- in spite of orientation, a flyer given to each incoming freshman, and a write up in the catalog and handbook, when Angela Godshall asked her freshman students if they had heard of the CAE, she was faced with a sea of blank stares --- perfected blank stares. So, anything you can do to promote their existence will be appreciated!!!
Have a wonderful semester......
Angela A. Godshall
